Claims Coordinator – Secaucus, NJ

COSCO SHIPPING Lines (North America) Inc. is seeking a Claims Coordinator to work in its Secaucus, NJ headquarters office. The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for overseeing and monitoring cargo claims filed against the company and will report to the Claims Manager. The position is also responsible for accepting, reviewing, and concluding claims and maintaining proper records.

Specific responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Local point of contact for cargo claims filed in the U.S. and Canada
  • Review claim submissions and determine carrier’s liability, if any
  • Conclude claims pursuant to the contract of carriage, service contract, applicable tariff and statute under supervision of management
  • Monitor payment of claims or declinations and sends customer reimbursement after ijos completion
  • Interact with all local offices to help facilitate investigations, sending surveyors out for inspection of damaged goods, and gather all facts related to each claim and assist with cargo disposal when a shipment is abandoned
  • Correspond with the P&I Club, COSCO SHIPPING Lines headquarters, customer, and law firms appointed by the P&I Club to facilitate claims and law suits
  • Maintain a monthly claim report for review by management
  • Identify areas that need improvement in the claims process and make recommendations on claims handling
  • Review new service contract clauses related to claim management, handling, and liability limits
  • Assist other department members and perform other duties as requested by management

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Required): Preferred concentration in the maritime, logistics, and/or supply chain fields
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Effective organization and time management skills
  • Strong knowledge in use of Microsoft Office (including Excel)

Intermodal and Cost Control Coordinator – Secaucus, NJ

COSCO SHIPPING Lines (North America) Inc. is seeking an Intermodal and Cost Control Coordinator to work in its Secaucus, NJ headquarters office. The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for administering vendor contracts, generating reports and other key administrative processes of vendor management with focus on marine, terminal, rail, and intermodal agreements.

Specific responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Support procurement and cost control department in vendor selection process and develop supporting documents for RFPs
  • Assist in contract management and vendor negotiations with various port and inland service providers
  • Support in analyzing procurement and vendor data, producing KPIs and providing detailed reports to management
  • Participate in vendor meetings upon request
  • Develop cost savings initiatives, identify cost reduction opportunities, and recommend to management supplier/vendor strategies for existing suppliers and potential alternatives
  • Input rates into IRIS system and monitor fluctuations in vendor costs
  • Assist other department members and perform other duties as requested by management

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Required)
  • One year of relevant experience is preferred
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Effective organization and time management skills
  • Ability to compare, analyze and evaluate large amounts of information and data
  • Strong knowledge in use of Microsoft Office (including Excel and PowerPoint)

Inside Sales Coordinator – Houston, TX

COSCO SHIPPING Lines (North America) Inc. is seeking an Inside Sales Coordinator to join their Sales Support Group in their Houston, TX operations office.

Specific responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing sales support, especially during times when Account Executive is on calls or out of the office
  • Rate quotations and bid preparation
  • Preparing amendments and new service contract requests and submitting them to NASC
  • Submitting requests for additional free time on behalf of customer
  • Submitting routing requests for review/approval
  • Creating and maintaining customer profiles
  • Answering calls directed to the sales support group and direct calls from customers
  • GT Nexus contract maintenance
  • Preparing reports for accounts & Account Executives upon request
  • Interacting with accounts through email / phone and assisting them with inquires related to: rates, contract terms, tariff rules, customer service, documentation, operational issues and general shipment inquiries
  • Assisting Account Executives and customers with problem resolution as necessary & liaising with customer service, documentation and operations to address customer inquiries/complaints

Experience & Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years of industry experience
  • Strong technical and problem solving skills
  • Excel, Power Point knowledge is a must
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred)
  • Bilingual in English and Chinese (preferred)

Accounts Receivable Coordinator – Houston, TX

COSCO SHIPPING Lines (North America) Inc. is seeking an Accounts Receivable Coordinator to join their Accounting Department in their Houston, TX operations office. The successful candidate will need to possess an in-depth knowledge in accounting and finance.

Assistant Customer Service Manager – Oakland, CA (1)

COSCO SHIPPING Lines (North America) Inc. is seeking an Assistant Customer Service Manager for their Oakland, CA operations office. The successful candidate will need to possess strong customer service skills, as well as extensive knowledge of imports and the regulations that govern such.

Specific responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for overseeing and assisting with a new account, including daily discussions with account, working with marine terminal and marine operations on late gates
  • Works with staff to ensure west coast operations run smoothly by managing late gates for reefer containers, reefer inventory and other customer service issues
  • Works with customer’s freight forwarder to ensure appropriate paperwork is filed on time
  • Responsible for assisting with any concerns in regard to discharge of customer’s cargo at discharge port
  • Responsible to assist and act as back up for second Assistant Customer Service Manager, as needed
  • Responsible to oversee and assist new account, working with the other Assistant Customer Service Manager, with daily account responsibilities as needed

Assistant Customer Service Manager – Oakland, CA (2)

COSCO SHIPPING Lines (North America) Inc. is seeking an Assistant Customer Service Manager, Reefer to be based in Oakland, CA.

Specific responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Works with staff to ensure west coast operations run smoothly by managing late gates for reefer containers, reefer inventory and other customer service issues
  • Assists and back up a 2nd west coast Assistant Customer Service Manager as needed
  • Responsible to oversee and assist new account with the other Assistant Customer Service Manager with daily account responsibilities
  • Works with Marine Terminal and Mariner Operations on late gates
  • Works with customers and freight forwarders to ensure appropriate paperwork is filed on time
