COSCO SHIPPING (North America) and Town of Secaucus Plant “Friendship Tree” Strengthening Long-Term Partnership and Advancing Sustainable Community Development

Secaucus, N.J., April 7, 2026 – COSCO SHIPPING North America and the town of Secaucus jointly held a Friendship Tree planting ceremony at Buchmuller Park, reinforcing their long-standing partnership and shared commitment to sustainability.

Mayor Michael Gonnelli and Zheyu Chen, Chairman of COSCO SHIPPING (North America), participated in the ceremony, planting a Kwanzan cherry tree as a symbol of enduring cooperation and a shared vision for a greener future. Representatives from both sides also attended the event. 

The initiative builds on a tradition that began in 2012, reflecting the company’s deep roots in the Secaucus community and its ongoing focus on strengthening local engagement.

As part of its broader Earth Day efforts, COSCO SHIPPING (North America) engaged employee volunteers in the activity, highlighting its commitment to environmental stewardship and corporate social responsibility by leveraging community action and individual advocacy to drive environmental progress.
