(March 3, 2019, Long Beach) COSCO SHIPPING (North America) Inc. held its annual partner appreciation reception in Long Beach, California. As is customary, the event was held the night prior to the official start of the Transpacific Maritime Conference (TPM) on Monday, March 4, 2019. TPM is the largest industry conference for the Transpacific trade, bringing more than 3,000 people to Long Beach, including the vast majority of our customer and vendor partners.
Mr. Mario Cordero, Executive Director of the Port of Long Beach and Former Commissioner of the Federal Maritime Commission (FMC), delivered the keynote speech. Mr. Cordero discussed that the synergy created among stakeholders like port authorities, ocean carriers, and terminal operators are the key to improving supply chain efficiencies and influencing international trade and commerce. He praised and recognized COSCO SHIPPING for organizing one of the leading industry forums, the World Shipping Summit, which provides an opportunity to discuss issues and develop partnerships not only as stakeholders but as nations throughout the world. Mr. Cordero went on further to reveal that 2018 was the highest for container movement in the Port of Long Beach’s 108 year history with a total throughput of 8.1 million containers and combined with the Port of Los Angeles, the throughput was in excess of 17 million containers. He expressed his appreciation for COSCO SHIPPING, stating that this success would not have been possible without synergy and partnerships like the one COSCO SHIPPING and the Port of Long Beach share. He ended his speech by expressing that he, on behalf of the Port of Long Beach, is looking forward to continuing to work on that partnership for many more years to come.
In the event, COSCO SHIPPING (North America) Inc. presented “2018 Best Partner” awards to four separate vendors who provided exceptional support to the company throughout 2018. The Awards were presented to key leaders of BNSF Railway, Fifth Third Bank, DCLI, and SSA Marine. Mr. Knud Stubkjaer, CEO of Carrix, Inc., accepted the award on behalf of SSA Marine, stating that the Award demonstrates COSCO SHIPPING (North America)’s true appreciation for SSA colleagues for their hard work on behalf of COSCO SHIPPING (North America) and our customers. He also added that SSA Marine similarly treasures their partnership with us.
Mr. Yao Erxin, Vice President of COSCO SHIPPING Holdings Co., Ltd., Mr. Teddy Fung, Deputy Managing Director of COSCO SHIPPING Lines and Mr. Feng Bo, President of COSCO SHIPPING (North America) Inc. attended the event. Mr. Feng Bo gave a speech: “Looking forward to the future, we will continue to prioritize the importance of improving our customer service quality and enhancing business operations and management in 2019. We will optimize our customer service teams in order to meet the individual needs of our clients and continue to offer more innovative and efficient technology solutions in order to achieve much more seamless and automated customer service. In terms of business operations, we will continue to promote increased synergy with our vendor partners, such as terminals, railroads, truckers, and chassis leasing companies, in order to streamline operational procedures which will allow us to fully ensure timelier handling and delivery of our customers’ cargo.”
